Discover the Healing Secrets of Honeybee Hives
Welcome to HIVE HEROES, a groundbreaking interactive experience where art, science, and play come together to unlock the powerful healing potential of honeybee hives. Inspired by the pioneering research of The Maori Lab at the University of Cambridge, this immersive exhibition invites you to explore the fascinating world of honeybees and their collaborative survival strategies.
In HIVE HEROES, you will step into the role of a worker bee, equipped with wearable technology as you embark on a collective mission to protect your hive. A fast-moving virus threatens the hive, and it’s up to you and your fellow bees to stop it. As you play, you will work together to share immunity by storing antiviral RNA in a healing cell, a process inspired by the real-world research on RNA cooperation between organisms.
This experience offers more than just fun your participation directly contributes to scientific research. The data collected from your gameplay will help advance understanding of how organisms share immunity, supporting vital research at The Maori Lab. This could ultimately help shape future responses to global health challenges.
A Unique Learning Experience
HIVE HEROES is designed for all ages (7 and up) and provides a captivating way to learn about the science of honeybees, RNA, and collective action. Through this experience, you’ll explore the hive, learn from the bees, and become part of an exciting and evolving story that blends science, art, and play.
